The post-festivity blues are often heavy to deal with and Calcutta Club Limited just knew how to beat those with their Bijoya Diwali Sammilani, in association with The Telegraph. The event was organised on the club lawns and the slight nip in the air did not seem to bother the guests who were decked up in colourful festive attires and appeared to be having a jolly good time. They engaged in socialising with their friends and munching on the delectable food items, while enjoying a melodic performance by Mumbai-based band Vaidyas. The beautiful firework show was one of the many highlights of the night.

Mumbai-based band Vaidyas got the audience grooving to their tunes by performing a collection of retro hits and Bengali folk numbers. The special tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and the Bob Dylan classic Blowin’ in the Wind garnered most cheers.
The chaat counter serving phuchka, papri chaat and bhel puri was a huge hit among the guests.
“It is a tradition to have this celebration every year, post Bijoya and Diwali. This year is all the more special because we have organised this after two years. There are a variety of food stalls and a display of fireworks tonight, which I believe the guests would be enjoying immensely,” said Indranil Ghosh, club president.
The fireworks lit up faces and made the evening a memorable one.
The food stalls served chholar dal and Dhakai paratha, kebabs, pork chops, pan-fried chilli paneer and more. In desserts there were Choco Coffee Ring Biscuits from Calcutta Club Bakery and sweets from popular confectionery shops in the city.
“This is a long-running traditional programme of the club and fortunately, it has not been raining lately, hence we were able to arrange this on the club lawns. I am hoping the attendees would have a great time tonight, after this long lull brought on by the pandemic,” said Pradeep Kumar Nemani, chairman of social and cultural department of the club.
