The lush lawns of The Bengal Rowing Club came alive with the soulful notes of legendary singer Alka Yagnik who had a hypnotic effect on the guests. The Bollywood singer who has sung over 8,000 songs and has three National Awards to her credit, sang live in front of an audience of 1,000-plus. She serenaded one all with hit numbers like Mere angne main, Dekha hai pehli baar, Kuch kuch hota hai the eternal Ek do teen, making the audience hum and sway. The singer who was performing for the first time in the club said, “I have stayed in this city for 20 years of my life and owe a lot to this city and my school (Modern High School For Girls) for what I am today. This is my first time at BRC, surprisingly, and what a lovely club this is. I should be coming here more often now.”

The Bengal Rowing Club is known for arranging hit musical nights and in the past, the likes of KK and Sajid-Wajid have charmed the audience.
