Alipore Sarbojanin in its 79th year has centred its theme on ‘Songkalpo’, where ‘Song’ stands for ‘bohurupi’ (crossdresser) and ‘kalpo’ for ‘roop’ (avatar). To promote the puja, crossdressers from the puja could be spotted across the city dressed as the goddess or her children. These live crossdressers can be seen at the pandal also. So are the men and women dressing up as ‘bohurupi’
