We have supplied goods worth Rs 3,48,763 to M/s Gammon India Ltd, Gammon House, Veer Savarkar Marg, Prabhadevi, Mumbai 400025, for their work at the Amtreng site in Assam. More than two years have passed since then and we are yet to receive our payment. We have sent them a pleader’s notice to which they have replied and asked two months to get details from their site in Assam. We have further sent another pleader’s notice but to no avail. What can we do now?

Admittedly, this is a commercial matter and the Consumer Protection Act has no jurisdiction to try, entertain or adjudicate the dispute. As two years have already passed, the matter cannot be entertained under the Act as per Section 24A. You may, however, take recourse to the Companies Act, 1956, to take the company to task.
