Wasseypur don Fahim Khan seeks parole for two months

The gangster, who was the inspiration behind Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur, is currently lodged in Ghaghidih jail of Chaibasa

Fahim Khan, the inspiration behind Anurag Kashyap directed 'Gangs of Wasseypur', on Wednesday sought parole for two months from the Jharkhand High court to participate in the marriage of his child.

Fahim is currently lodged in Ghaghidih jail of Chaibasa in connection with several cases of murder and extortion

A double-bench of Justice R Mukhopadhyay and Justice Rajesh Shankar after hearing his petition instructed him to make an appeal before the single bench.

Notably, Fahim Khan who is serving life imprisonment in connection with the murder case of one Sagir Khan of Wasseypur since May 2011 has earlier on March 27, 2017, also been granted one day parole to participate in the marriage of his third daughter Noor Fatima,

He was brought to his house in Wasseypur for the last time from Ghaghidih jail amidst tight security at around 9.30 am and performed all religious rituals of the marriage function and was taken back to jail at around 3 pm after the conclusion of the function.

Talking to the media, Dhiraj Kumar, lawyer of Jharkhand High Court, who filed a petition on behalf of Fahim Khan said, "The double bench of Jharkhand High court which heard the petition of Khan seeking parole for the marriage of his child instructed him to file the petition before a single judge bench."

Fahim Khan who was arrested by the police in connection with the Sagir Khan murder case which took place on May 11, 2011, is facing altogether 27 criminals cases including murders and extortion demand cases.

Fahim Khan's rivalry with another Mafia don of Wasseypur Sabir Alam had inspired Anurag Kashyap's Gangster flick Gangs of Wasseypur.

After being convicted in the Sagir Khan murder case, Khan was sent to Dhanbad divisional Jail on May 20, 2011, from where he was shifted to Hazaribagh jail, then again to Dumka, Jail and Ranchi jail before being finally shifted to Gaghidih Central Jail of Jamshedpur on April 14, 2015, due to security reasons.

Fahim Khan along with other members of his gang lodged in different jails across the state flex muscle from behind the bars to influence the tender process for Railway projects and also of other public sector units.

Though Khan along with other family members including three nephews, Banti Khan, Prince Khan, and Ritik Khan earlier used to work as part of the same gang extorting money from the railway contractors, they later developed animosity and engaged in a bloody fight against each other.
