Jamshedpur, Jan. 16: Ranchi University men’s and women’s teams emerged overall champions in the team event of the all-India inter-university archery meet, which concluded in Hyderabad on January 14.

This is the first time the university has bagged the archery honours.

The victorious team was congratulated by the faculty of their respective colleges on their arrival to the city today. Harender Kumar accompanied the team as the coach.

Over 300 archers representing 31 universities in the country took part in the meet organised by Osmania University.

The eight-member university men and women team displayed top form in the team championship round. While the men’s team edged out Meerut University to bag the gold, the women’s team overcame Calcutta University to win the top slot. The men’s team managed to outwit their rivals in a stiff contest, finally winning the gold in a tie-breaker.
