?Awesome threesome? is the way the family would describe themselves. The Chopra household comprises father Rajeev an industrialist, mother Mitali, owner of an event management group and son Laksha studying in Loyola.
Theirs is the right mix of sincerity and light-heartedness that makes the family unique in its own way.
?Rajeev is a self-made man. After losing his father at 18, he had to take the responsibility of the whole family.? Rajeev completed his studies alongside taking care of his family business.
?He wanted to pursue medicine but had to do away with the thought,? says Mitali. Today, Rajeev has made a name for himself in the family business. Though the family stays busy most of the time when they get together they have ?a blast? as Laksha puts in.
?We love going to the club and watch the latest films. We love to gorge on our favourite dishes,? says Laksha with a twinkle in his eyes. Laksha is a complete food freak and swears by exotic dishes and ?sizzlers? that his father treats him to. ?He is an absolute foodie? says his mother looking fondly at him. ?My mother-in -law cooks delicious Punjabi food and Laksha loves to eat whatever she makes,? says Mitali.
Rajeev is clearly at the helm of domestic affairs while his mother rules the kitchen. But he takes time to explain his decisions to the family members. ?He loves to explain things and won't stop till you actually understand what he exactly means,? adds Mitali. ?Papa keeps on repeating himself till mamma finally nods her head and tells him that she has understood? chips in Laksha, tad cheekily.
Mother and son both enjoy reading books. While Laksha loves illustrated classics, he surprisingly does not enjoy Harry Potter books. Ask him why and he says that they are very thick books filled with magic, which hardly interests him. Mitali particularly enjoyed Da Vinci Code and The Alchemist two books that she completed recently.
So what does little Laksha like the most about his parents? ?They spend time with me and mamma helps me in my studies. Papa plays with me and does not scold me,? His mother however contradicts him, ?He does get scolded when he makes mistakes in his class work, otherwise he is very obedient,? says a proud Mitali. ?He is dedicated to his task and does everything with a zeal,? says his father.
Both father and son are passionate about sports and enjoy going for a swim together. ?Sports relaxes me a lot. We also love to travel,? says Rajeev. ?He loves channel surfing the most when at home,? says Mitali. It seems as though Rajeev enjoys controlling things even when at home. The remote control gives him a sense of ?I command? which is something Mitali secretly admires.
?He takes his decisions when it comes to his workplace and I am free to take my own in my office.?
Mitali stresses on the fact that they almost always discuss each other's work. ?Rajeev is very dedicated to his work. He has tremendous capacity for hard work. I am not happy with his time management. He always reaches places behind schedule,? grudges Mitali.
?It is just that I cannot cope up with so many activities,? says Rajeev rather sheepishly. ?And to add to it, she is very short-tempered that makes it further difficult to please her,? Rajeev adds.
Having said that, Rajeev admits that Mitali?s simplicity and straightforwardness has won him over through the years. ?She has not changed from the time I have known her and I would prefer that she stays this way throughout her life. So far it has been a wonderful journey,? he adds finally.
Life promises to be more hectic with Rajeev being elected the President of Rotary Club, Jamshedpur, Steel City and Mitali the Vice- President of Inner Wheel of Rotary Club. However they are confident that they would stand by each other through thick and thin.
