Jamshedpur, Aug. 4: The woman who was molested by a “policeman”, Nagendra Singh, received a threat call from him this morning.

The woman soon rushed to East Singhbhum superintendent of police Naveen Kumar Singh and made him aware of the situation. She has also submitted a written statement with the superintendent of police Naveen Kumar Singh.

One of the molest victim, wife of Santu Poddar, said that Singh is aware that police are searching for him. “Singh has threatened to kill me,” she said.

“As my husband runs a shop in Baridih market, it has become a problem for him to move out of home until Singh is traced and arrested. He knows where his shop is, he might come down and beat or kill him,” said the worried woman.

But police sources claimed that the alleged sub-inspector has fled his home and is running for cover.

Shortly after the complaint was lodged with the superintendent of police last evening, sub-inspector of Sidhgora police station Pervez Alam was assigned to trace the man. Alam, who is also the officer in charge of Sidhgora police station, went over to the house of the accused along with the molest victims but found only a woman in the house.

In the morning, the police once visited Singh’s residence but the woman, claiming to be his wife, said Singh had been to his office and that he would return in the afternoon. The woman, however, declined to say exactly where his office was situated.

Singh claimed that the police are trying to hunt down the fake policeman.

“I have engaged a team of officers to trace out the man and arrest him as soon as possible. At the same time I have ensured that no harm would occur to the woman and her husband,” he said.

The police have registered a case against Nagendra Singh with Sidhgora police station based on the statement of Santu, Poddar’s wife, and his sister-in-law who was also molested by Singh.
