Some people like to collect stamps, others coins and yet others paintings.
But, the usual is not 38-year-old Mango-based chartered accountant Avinash Dugar's cup of tea.
Black, green, white, organic, decaf, flavoured, herbal, blooming - you name it and you will get it at Dugar's flat at Sahara Sunderban complex in Mango.
More a passion than a hobby, Dugar has even floated his start-up La Gravitea.
The company even organised its maiden symposium on the health benefits of sipping tea without milk and sugar, at The Alcor Hotel in Bistupur on January 11. Around 100 students, corporate executives and senior citizens, among others attended the 'sip symposium'.
And Dugar is winning converts. Dietician Richa Verma, who attended the symposium and later had white tea, said it was just perfectly brewed, hot and aromatic. "So refreshing, I want to have it again," she said.
The entrepreneur was invited to talk on "Tea Etiquette and its Health Benefits" at the India International Tea and Coffee Expo 2016, held in Calcutta on January 16.
Dugar, who hails from Bikaner in Rajasthan and studied in Bhawanipur Education Society College in Calcutta, came to Jharkhand in 2005. His passion for teas made him leave his stable job at a steel company in Seraikela-Kharsawan district three years ago and visit major tea producing nations.
Now, he has a collection of over 70 varieties of tea from places like China, Kenya, Indonesia, Nepal and Russia and of course India. These include herbal teas with flavours such as rhododendron, chamomile, dandelion, basil, lemongrass, mint, ginseng, rosebud, goji berry, jujube, lotus seed, as well as fruity ones such as banana, orange, mango and strawberry. And yes, there's chocolate for the fanatics.
Along with it, he ran his own steel trading company in Jamshedpur.
But, his heart clearly lies in a teacup, his passion being spreading the benefits of tea without milk and sugar, taken without milk and sugar, have more health benefits as they have high antioxidant properties, reduce bad cholesterol and promote healthy growth of cells," he said.
Citing examples of China and Japan, the doctor said that the mortality rate due to cardio-vascular diseases is very low there because the people mostly consume green and white tea.
So, sip for health. Dugar will be pleased.
