Tata plan for bigwigs to beat stress

Jamshedpur, May 16: Tata Steel plans to conduct “lifestyle management programmes” for its executives to reduce stress.

The responsibility of conducting the programmes has been given to the sports department, which has prepared a list of activities aimed at reducing stress. “The company had been conducting various lifestyle management programmes on a regular basis but the kind of activities planned now is comprehensive in nature,” an official said. He added that the programmes would be held at Mahatma Gandhi Arogya Bhavan in Sonari from May 24.

The programme includes talks on naturopathy, lifestyle management, naturopathic treatment, stress management, meditation, yoga and aerobic classes. An official of the sports department said stress level in the corporate world has increased. “Around 95 per cent of the officers bring work to their homes. This affects performance which consequently has a bearing on the functioning of the company,” he added.

Sources said the programme would help to improve production and reduce medical costs. Sources said it would improve the quality of life.

The programmes would be conducted by experts under the supervision of P. Ratna Rao, a former international basketball player, who is also the programme co-ordinator.
