Jamshedpur, Oct. 4: A musical programme featuring live choreography to a blend of classical and semi-classical popular Hindi numbers will be held at the XLRI Tata auditorium on Saturday. Budding talents of the city in the age group of eight to sixteen years will participate in the programme titled “Sur Jhankar''.
The show will be organised by Sparkles, a city-based cultural organisation, which has roped in some fine performers from the city to stage the show for the first time in the city.
The programme promises to be a treat for the audience as it will be an all-children show. Right from hosting the show and playing musical instruments like synthesiser, drums, guitar and tabla - everything will be done by children.
About 30 children drawn from different schools will perform in the show and present Hindustani classical and light classical songs.
The organisers have lined up programmes featuring patriotic songs, ghazals, old and new songs including duets.
A major part of the cultural programme will be supported by an orchestra performed by children. The children will also perform Kathak and Bharat Natyam.
A unique feature of the programme, which will continue for two hours, is that the participants will also interact with the audience during the course of the show.
“Members of Sparkles, comprising parents and children, have taken pains to infuse a sense of confidence among the students about the performing arts,” said Charu Sinha of Sparkles.
According to Sinha, the event will be fully sponsored and there will be no sale of tickets.
“The audience will have free entry subject to availability of seats,'' she added.
Senior government and corporate officials have been invited for the programme, which will be inaugurated by deputy managing director of Tata Steel Tridibesh Mukherjee.
