Ranchi, July 26: Salsa, the intoxicating dance from Latin America, seems to have caught the fascination of the youth in this city.
So, what is it that makes these youngsters step in their Salsa shoes? ?Oh, I love the steps,? said Rohini Modi, a student of Bishop Westcott Girls School.
If she is in love with the dance-steps, Shanu Garodia of BIT and Roli Garodia of Loreto School described it as ?fantastic? and Shanu further added, ?Everything, from music to steps, has been just fantastic.?
They were fortunate to be among the 33 men and women, who learned Salsa for four days, devoting an hour and a half each evening.
And the students were all praise for their teacher Aditya. ?He is too good,? they said.
Aditya was upbeat about the success of the workshop. ?The response has been just fantastic. When we started enrolling trainees we were very apprehensive. Now, I truly believe that our plan to launch Salsa workshop in Ranchi has been more than justified. Today all these boys and girls can take the dance floor and Salsa with confidence with any partner,? he said.
Of course, they will take some more time and more practice to perform at the competitive level and indulge in more intricate movements, he added.
Ganesh Upadhaya of Ranee and Ganny, the dance school which was the force behind the Salsa class, said, ?The rush began when the apprehensive souls shed their doubts and came to join the class after the first day. More than a dozen had to go back disappointed, because we were filled to capacity.?
After this successful workshop, the Ranee and Ganny team had to revise their programme. ?We have decided to organise an exclusive workshop for students and a separate one for club members from August 4 to August 7 at Ranchi Club,? informed Ganesh.
They were even thinking of holding another workshop for non-members of the Gymkhana and Ranchi clubs.
During the concluding ceremony, with which the four-day workshop came to an end, at the Gymkhana Club late Sunday evening, the dance school promoter?s thanked two doctors, Dr Amar Kumar Singh and Dr Ajay, who helped the dance school to make the workshop a reality.
