The Tata Steel sports wing has reserved September 25 (Sunday) for fun games involving people from every walk of life.

The past and present employees of the steel major are also eligible to take part in the event. The proceedings will start with a bicycle ride for couples ( Biwi Pyari Aao Karein Cycle Sawaari) and conclude with a tug of war (Kaun Hai Jamshedpur Ka Shaktisaali Society) among different residential clusters.

"We have already received six entries for the couple cycling event and four societies have come forward to enrol their names for the tug of war. Enquiries are pouring in almost daily. We expect good participation," said Tata Steel sports wing manager Avinash Kumar.

Shedding light on the rules for the couple cycling event, Kumar said that participants should have to come with their own equipment.

"Bicycles without gear will also be allowed. But, unmarried couples will not be entertained. The event will be conducted from 6.15am to 7am. The top five finishers will be awarded," he said.

The route will involve JRD Sports Complex, Mohun Ahuja Stadium, Jubilee Flats, Centre for Excellence, Jubilee Officers' Flats roundabout, Sacred Heart Convent School and back to the starting point (JRD Tata Sports Complex)

According to Kumar, four societies - Vijaya Gardens, Baridih, Beldih Lake Society, Bistupur, Vastu Vihar (Mango) and Agrico colony - have confirmed their entries for the tug of war.

"The contest will be conducted from 7.30am to 9am. Each team will have 10 members. Schools students of Class XI and above are also eligible to compete. The winner and runner-up will be awarded," he added. The events are aimed at generating interest among people who remain busy with their daily routine."It is an opportunity for them to come out and enjoy a competitive Sunday," a sports wing official said.

The last date for enrolment is September 22. Interested persons can contact Avinash Kumar at avi@tatasteel.com or can call 0657-6644817.
