Students shine at RBI quiz - DPS makes it to July 23 zonal round

Ranchi, July 13: As many as 78 students from 32 ICSE and CBSE affiliated schools across the state put on their thinking caps during the pre-quarter final rounds of All India Inter-school quiz organised by the Reserve Bank of India at St Xavier’s College auditorium in the capital today.

Out of the 39 teams which faced tough questions, six qualified for the quarter final round. These were DAV Public School, Hehal; DAV Kapildev, Kadru; DAV Public School, Bariatu; Delhi Public School (DPS); Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM) and St Anthony.

Two students from Classes IX, X, XI and XII were part of each team. All the six schools performed well, but it was the students of DPS who answered most of the questions correctly to make it to the zonal round to be held in Calcutta on July 23.

During the four-hour long programme, quizmaster Gautam Bose piqued the curiosity of students, teachers, parents and the audience by asking questions on various topics.

Saurav Sinha, general manager and officer-in-charge of RBI, Ranchi, said: “This quiz was organised for the second consecutive year to generate interest among the students. We tested their knowledge in economics, current affairs, personalities and events that have contributed to the growth and progress of India over the years. The contest also aims to make the youngsters aware of the role of RBI in banking and finance sectors.”

The general manager added that RBI was conducting 53 such quiz competitions across the country. The final round will be broadcast on television. However, the date of the grade finale is yet to be finalised, said Sinha.
