
Jamshedpur: A 16-member (boys and girls) team will represent Jharkhand at the 12th Sub-junior (Under-14) National Roll Ball Championship to be held in Balewadi, Pune, from September 14 to 16.
While most of the selected players are from Tata Steel Roller Skating Training Centre, a girl from Ghatotand in West Bokaro has also found a slot.
Boys in the state outfit comprise Ujjwal Pratap Singh, Soumya Shekhar, Arya Vats, Divyam Mandal, Abhishek Kumar, Chris Joy Kachhap, Vikhyat Jain, Garv Khara and Pratham Kashyap, while the girls include Lovely Kumari, Koyna Mridha, Ridhima Anand, P. Yashashvi, Niharika Kumari, Mansi Sahu and Naysha Singh (West Bokaro).
Chandeshwar Sahu and Rajiv Singh are the mentors of the side while Moloy Kumar and Sarita Anand have been appointed managers. Jyoti Kumar is the team official.
Chandeshwar Sahu, who is also the secretary of Jharkhand Roll Ball Association (JRBA), said the state outfit was balanced and the players had been picked on merit.
Silver star
Ranchi: Madhumita Kumari, who won silver in compound archery in Asiad, will get a special opportunity to appear for her BA Part II exam that she missed during her preparations for the sports meet.
Ranchi University spokesperson Prakash Jha said a special exam would be organised for her.
"She will be honoured in the university and also given opportunity to appear for the exam, whose date will be announced later, She had sent me an application before leaving for the event," vice chancellor Ramesh Pandey said.
Madhumita is a student of history honours at Silli College.
