Society first for Marwari group

Jamshedpur, Oct. 12: The All-India Marwari Federation (AIMF) is set to bring about changes in the society through their nine-point programme.

From scholarships for higher education to programmes on entrepreneurship development, the federation is looking at “social reformation and bonding”.

Sitaram Sharma, president of the federation and consulate general of Belarus, said like other communities, the Marwari community, too, has several drawbacks that need to be rectified.

Speaking with newspersons, Sharma said, that his organisation has developed a strategy to curb the social menace. He has set the Uccha Siksha Nyas (higher education trust) to help the meritorious students who want to pursue higher studies in the country and abroad.

“Recently, we issued a Rs 2 lakh scholarship to Kumari Priyanka Khandelwal for her MBA course. Like her, in the future, too, we would felicitate the needy students from our trust. This will encourage them to study further,” he said.

On the eve of Agrasen Jayanti, he told that his federation is set to promote art and culture and will also give away two literary awards with the help of Bengal Academy.

Construction of libraries and guest houses and organising training workshops and is also on the cards.
