Ranchi, May 9: The works and life of eminent Hindi litterateur Shravan Kumar Goswami has been documented in a 30-minute video sketch.

The work is the second in the series “Apne Shahar ka Admi” by Shushil Ankan, who donned the hats of director-writer as well as the cameraman of the film.

The documentary christened, Yadi Main Shahjahan Hota (If I were Shahjahan), was screened at the Central Library of Ranchi University this evening.

The film started sequentially, tracing the details of Goswami’s life. First, it provided some details and the history of the man, followed by the views of his friends and family members, along with his achievements.

Goswami has written many books — Atal Ji Ke Naam, Pati Sudhar Kendra and Ranchi Ab Aur Tab — among others. He was the first person who wrote the programme in Nagpuri language, which was aired by Akashvaani. All these facts were recorded in the documentary.

Ankan told The Telegraph the main motive behind the movie was to compile information about Goswami — considered one of the best talents of the state as far as Hindi literature is concerned.

After this, Ankan wants to make a documentary on other famous personalities and talents (artists, writers and other intellectual persons) of Jharkhand so that their works can be retained for future generations. After the success of Kankila Ke Sur on famous sitar artist Prabhat Thakur in 2009, he decided to make another documentary.

This resulted in Yadi Main Shahjahan Hota in 2010.

“I am really happy with this film. Everybody supported me in this work. I would like to thank Shravan Kumar Goswami from whom I got all the information,” said Ankan, during the inaugural address.

Ankan invited Goswami as the chief guest of the programme, while Shailesh Pandit, the director of Ranchi Doordarshan, and Sheen Akhtar, the former pro-vice-chancellor of RU, were the guests of honour.
