Ranchi, May 24: Children between four and 15 years participated in a three-day summer-cum-personality development camp that began at Agrasen Bhavan today.

Organised by the Agarwal Mahila Samiti, the camp was aimed at fostering friendship between children and also to teach them various forms of arts including painting, photography, yoga, aerobics, calligraphy and singing.

On the first day today, the children performed yoga under the aegis of an expert, who gave them ?useful? tips on how to cure stomach ailments and headaches without using medicines.

A participant, Class X student of Bishop Westcott Girls? School, Namkum, said: ?Whenever we get a headache or a stomach ailment, we generally pop pills. But by learning such tips, we can be healthier and even help our parents when they face the same problems.?

After yoga, the children got a dose of painting. The crux of this session was on how to draw landscapes and how to work out the colour combination according to themes.

During the second half of the camp, the participants were taught the nuances of photography and given tips on how to take good pictures. The students were of course thrilled, so was the photography instructor, Subodh

?There are many children in the camp who were asking about the latest techniques used in photographs. This shows the interest these young minds have on this art,? said Subodh.

Besides, Jamshedpur-based artist Sabir Hussain showed the participants the finer points of glass, mural and Tanjore paintings.

Students said they thoroughly enjoyed the camp. Apart from learning about the various arts, some said the experience was ?wonderful? as they made many friends at the camp.
