The hospitality industry around the steel city is set to see a remarkable growth, as several big names will soon make an entry into the market.
Leading the way is The Country Club — one of the largest chains of family clubs in India. The high-end club with over 200 global affiliations has entered into an agreement with Galudih Inn Private Limited, a city-based company that took over the sprawling Galudih Resorts on NH-33, about 40km from Jamshedpur.
An MoU between the authorities of Country Club and the city firm was signed a few days ago. “Galudih Resorts would be next in addition to our already existing list of over 120 franchise resorts across the country,” said a senior official from the Country Club Hotels and Resorts in Calcutta.
The deal that would be the first-ever official partnership of Country Club with any property within the state would see the premier club taking care of the complete promotion of Galudih Resorts both within and outside the country. “Our members would be entitled to a stay here and would be provided with all facilities,” he added.
The group is also speaking to authorities at Hill View Resorts and 10th Mile Stone — two of the oldest highway resorts here. Its entry into Jharkhand is part of the company’s plan to capture tier-two markets. Set to be in operation from August 15, over Rs 75 lakh has been spent in the renovation of this resort that was lying defunct for years after the demise of its Calcutta-based owner. “The renovation is on and we have completed two air-conditioned multicuisine restaurants and a few rooms,” said Vinay Mangalam, director of Galudih Inn Private Limited Company. Other attractions include a boating area, waterpark and car park.
Ranchi-based Capitol Hill would start its maiden project in the city within a period of three to four months.
“We will set up our first hotel in Jamshedpur by the year-end and in all probability it would come up in prime locations near Bistupur and Sakchi,” said Ashwini Bhatia, director, Capitol Hill Hotel in Ranchi.
Though the director remained tight-lipped on further plans, company officials confirmed that the group has already taken over one of the leading hotels in the Sakchi New Planning Area.
Another player would be Ginger, the no-frills chain of business hotels from the house of Tatas, that would be under construction soon. And other local counterparts are not lagging behind, too.
Information available at East Singhbum deputy commissioner’s office shows that proposals for over five mega hotel projects have been received and two among them have been sent for final approval. “Two projects have been sanctioned at Ranikudar near Bistupur and Golmuri,” said Rakesh Kumar Singh, assistant deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum.
While the four-star project coming up at Ranikudar would be the largest and will house over 100 rooms, the one at Golmuri would be from the house of Vijaya group. “Two of the proposed hotels are named High Tech and City Square,” said Singh.
