The Annual Youth Festival- 2004 of Kerala Samajam Model School was held recently.

The three-day festival was the grand finale of the extra-curricular events that were held throughout the year. Prizes were given away to the winners by B.L. Raina, managing director of Tinplate Company India Limited during the Youth Festival Prize Nite.

All the students were divided into four groups ? peace, joy, hope and charity. The students who qualified for the semi-finals participated in the festival. Competitions were held for English and Hindi extempore speeches, elocution, eastern and western solo, group dance, essay writing, quiz, fashion parade, debate, dumb charade and choreography.

The prize nite was flagged off by a prayer song, which was followed by a solo song by Swarandeepa Majumdar. A dance recital by Abhishek and Madhurima left the audience spellbound.

The excitement in the auditorium was at its peak when the final results were declared. Hope House emerged as the overall champion, while Charity House emerged as the runners up.

Winning spree

The students of Carmel Junior College had a busy, but exciting time on the campus for the last few weeks. We won trophies and accolades in varied events ranging from sports to dance competitions.

The school?s volleyball team for the first time ever won both the girls? and boys? trophies. They were declared champions at the recently-held Joga Inter School Volleyball tournament.

The credit for our astounding victory goes to Sister Flavian and Sister Harriet who from the very beginning stressed on extra-curricular activities in our school. We had even emerged as winners at the kho-kho competition a few months ago.

Carmel once again emerged as overall champions in the YMCA competition. Our group dance was not only appreciated by all, but we also won the first prize.

The credit for winning the prize goes to our dance teacher, Teacher Tiyali. The school fete doubled the enjoyment for the wonderful win in these competitions. The students had a whale of a time.
