Ranchi, Aug. 17: Air Sahara will become the second carrier tomorrow, after Indian (Airlines), to link Ranchi and Delhi.

Air Deccan will become the third, from November 2, if Kingfisher does not start its service by then.

Kingfisher has delayed its Calcutta-Ranchi-Delhi-Ranchi-Calcutta flight, for which it had obtained operational approval from June.

The daily Sahara flight will leave New Delhi at 1.40 pm and reach Ranchi at 3.10 pm. It will take off for Delhi at 3.40 pm.

The introduction of the new flights will help residents of the national and state capitals, as people can fly into Ranchi in the morning and leave later in the day, though by different airlines.

The no-frills Air Deccan, which links Ranchi and Calcutta, will fly to Delhi via Patna every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday while Air Sahara is withdrawing the Ranchi-Mumbai flight to start the Delhi service.

Air Sahara is offering discounted fares that start from Rs 3,850 for a berth in its 50-seater plane and Air Deccan has also started booking tickets for its A 320 Airbus at Rs 1,499 and above.

Indian offers tickets in two slabs of Rs 3,705 and Rs 11,000 while Air Sahara’s and Air Deccan’s maximum fares are Rs 11,150 and Rs 8,.

Air Sahara is also offering refund on its discounted tickets unlike Indian. Barring Rs 500 cancellation charges, the airline has announced that it will refund the ticket cost.

Indian’s lone flight arrives in Ranchi, from Delhi, at noon and returns after making a round of Patna at 4.15 pm.
