Jamshedpur, Feb. 18: Children in Seraikela’s Tontoposhi could soon be studying in an English-medium school there.

Jamshedpur Anglo-Indian Association has taken the initiative to set up a full-fledged English-medium school in Tontoposhi in the wake of Tata Steel’s project there.

President of the Jamshedpur Anglo-Indian Association Peter Lake told The Telegraph that the area in Seraikela where Tata Steel is going to set up its greenfield project is bound to get a facelift before the project is even functional.

Representatives from the Jamshedpur Anglo-Indian Association have selected the area for the school and are trying to get the project going, Lake said.

The president of the association is associated with the administration of St Mary’s English School. The idea of an English-medium school at Tentoposhi came to Lake, he said, when a group of people from there had come to St Mary’s to admit their wards.

“I wanted to know if they would like to educate their children in a nearby school instead of sending them to such a far place. When I proposed setting up a full-fledged English-medium school there, the villagers instantly assured me of all help,” Lake added.

The proposed school would be “state-of-the art”.
