Jamshedpur, Aug. 26: Private telecom service provider Tata Teleservices would invest Rs 45 crore in the city in the first phase of its network expansion plan.
Announcing the plans, Ajay Pandey, president, Tata Teleservices Limited, today said the company has earmarked Rs 150 crore for investment in the two telecom circles — Bihar and Jharkhand. Of this, Rs 45 crore would be invested in the city. Among the country’s leading private cellular phone operators, Tata Teleservices would launch its Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile and fixed wireless services across 15 towns in these two states.
The brand — Tata Indicom — will be launched in the steel city in the third week of September. The company also plans to rapidly roll out its services across other towns in the two states by the end of this year. The towns include Ranchi, Patna, Hajipur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Chas, Chapra, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh.
According to Pandey, the company would be offering attractive tariff plans and a range of handsets suited to diverse customer segments.
In the city, customers would be able to avail all the three services — fixed wireless, CDMA post-paid and pre-paid (for the first time it would launch the pre-paid service) — and the customers will have access to a host of value added services.
“Coming from the house of Tatas, the customers can be assured of quality service. In keeping with the true spirit, we aim to be the most reliable and trusted telecom service in the region and would be offering our customers transparent tariffs with no hidden costs and host of other value-added services.”
However, Pandey refused to elaborate on the tariff structure.
Referring to its services in the city, Pandey said work is in progress for installation of about 27 mobile towers in different areas like Sonari, Mango, Sakchi, Sidhgora, Telco, Adityapur, Dimna, Parsudih and Jugsalai.
The company has a target to provide about 80,000 connections alone in the city booking of which would start one week prior to the launch. The company will set up showrooms in Sakchi and Bistupur and a state-of-the-art call centre for customer services.
The main switching centre from Erickson is being installed at Voltas House in Bistupur. It has a superior processor, which will ensure improved call quality, reduce network congestion, enable better call completion rate, improve coverage and network efficiency, said the officials.
