Ranchi, June 16: The government seems reluctant to form the road transport corporation even when the revenue generated from Jharkhand is being pocketed by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation.

About a dozen BSRTC buses from Ranchi leave for different destinations daily. An employee at the Ranchi depot, Vidyanand Singh, said: “The income generated from Ranchi is Rs 50,000 daily which comes to Rs 15 lakh per month. But out of that a huge amount goes to the BSRTC which pays our salaries.”

“We were told that the Jharkhand Transport Corporation would be formed shortly. Even a few meetings had been called to discuss the matter. But nothing has been done so far. Though the Jharkhand government is losing a huge amount of money, the authorities have failed to react,” he added.

Another employee of the corporation, Dhruv Kumar Singh, said: “At present, we get our salaries in two instalments after 15 days. We also have not received the payment for three months.”

“After the formation of the Jharkhand Transport Corporation, we hope that the payment of salaries would be regularised. There are many officials in Bihar who do not do their duties properly. They are the ones who have blocked our payments. We are sure this is going to improve after the formation of the corporation,” he added.

But the department is not willing to set up the Jharkhand Transport Corporation for the time being.

Nothing has been planned as yet, officials of the state transport department said.

One of the officials said: “Nothing has been planned yet. Officials of the department have not discussed anything about the formation of the Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation.” Transport secretary Vimal Kirti Singh also agreed. He said: “Right now we do not have any plan to set up the Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation. We have not given it a thought. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation is incurring great losses.”
