More such cameras would throng the resthouse |
Hazaribagh, May 9: The picturesque resthouse of the forest department, which had remained neglected for years, has become a hotspot for film producers.
According to divisional forest officer S.H.A. Kazami, a number of Nagpuri film producers are keen to shoot their films in this location. Kazami told The Telegraph that many producers had contacted him for the purpose, after a report appeared in the newspaper last week.
Sources in the forest department pointed out that the place had an immense potential, in its natural beauty and its location on the busy Ranchi-Patna highway, which could be cashed on.
But sources also added that the government should release sufficient funds towards the development of this place as a modern tourist spot. If given a facelift, the place, which falls at the crossroads of several destinations, would be added to the list of destinations itself. This, in turn, would churn out revenue for the government, they added.
But questions are being raised over the lack of sufficient security in the area.
?Maximum road robberies were reported in the dam area. The government should first chalk out strategies to provide adequate security to visitors,? they added. Without proper security arrangements, people would hardly risk a trip to the area located at a distance from any locality.
Officials of the department said they will ask the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of the visitors. ?Only a resthouse will not change the situation unless and until the government provides for security,? added an official.
DFO Kazami, however, allayed fears about insufficient security. He said police from Koderma and Hazaribagh regularly patrol the road. Besides, the resthouse is surrounded by stretches of water on two sides. Under such circumstances, Kazami believed, movement of miscreants will be impeded. Moreover, there are four guards to look after the resthouse, he added.
