Chaibasa, June 23: More than 50 people, including women, gheraoed Kiriburu police station to rescue four accused from the lock-up around 2.30 am in West Singhbhum today. Several people got injured in the clash that lasted about half an hour.

Labourers of Sikshit Berojgar Vikas Swalambi Sahkari Samiti alleged that on June 19 they garlanded the secretary, Imil Topno, with shoes due to mass anomalies in payment and favouring outside workers in jobs in the mines.

Later, the secretary lodged an FIR and on the basis of that, police arrested the accused on Wednesday.
