Jamshedpur, June 11: Around 50 suspected armed Maoists attacked a family, three men of which are in security forces, ransacked their house and burnt household goods at Dhiriguttu village in Ghatshila subdivision, about 100km from Jamshedpur, in the wee hours today.

They left posters, written in red, one of which stated " kurki ka badla kurki se, khun ka badla khun se (avenge attachment with attachment, blood with blood)".

According to villagers, the mob first searched for the house of state police jawan Sanatan Hembrom, currently under trial in the murder case of his wife Mainabati and lodged in Ghatshila jail since February.

After finding it, they started shouting abuses, asking his father Pradhan Hembrom to come out. Sensing trouble, Pradhan managed to escape from the back-door.

The mob then broke the main door and raided the huts of Sanatan and his brothers - Ravin Chandra Hembrom, who is in CRPF in Allahabad, and Shankar, a JAP jawan in Jamshedpur, - located on the same campus. They threw the household goods, poured kerosene oil and torched them.

The mob later threatened the family to leave the village or face dire consequences. They said the family was paying the price as two of the male members were in Jharkhand police, which are attaching the properties of the rebels.

East Singhbhum rural SP Md Arshi said an FIR was lodged by Pradhan at Ghurabandha police station this afternoon. "The family members claimed that the attack was orchestrated by the relatives of Sanatan's wife. However, the posters and the manner of the operation make it evident that the attack had tacit Maoist support," said Arshi.

PLFI aides held

Three PLFI informers, including a para-teacher, were nabbed from Bano in Simdega today. Sanjay Gope, Sandip Singh and para-teacher Rajesh Singh, all residents of Bano, were sent to jail.
