Ranchi, Oct. 15: Delhi Public School Society, one of the largest institutions providing education at the school level in India, today spread its wings to Ormanjhi by establishing the second Delhi Public School (DPS) of the state capital in Mundro village.
Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed along with his Chhattisgarh counterpart Shekhar Dutta laid the foundation stone of the mega school, which would be affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
The school, to be known as DPS Greater Ranchi, will come up on a 35-acre campus and will be run by Angika Development Society, which is headed by former Supreme Court judge B.P. Singh. It is expected to start functioning by the next academic session and would initially admit students till Class VII.
Later on, it will admit students till Class XII, informed the school’s public relation manager Rajesh Sinha.
He added that the school would also provide hostel facilities for outstation students, with each classroom being built on a 700sqft area. Each class is likely to have a maximum of 25 students as to ensure individual attention for everyone. The faculty, according to Sinha, would be among the best in the industry.
Besides academics, the institution will focus on the all-round development of students with adequate space being allotted for cricket, hockey and football grounds on the campus. A state-of-the-art pool will also help students hone their swimming skills.
Speaking to The Telegraph, DPS Society chairman Ashok Chandra said the existing school at Satellite Colony was unable to cope with the clamour for seats. “The school is overburdened and bursting at the seams. Hence, there was an immediate need for a second DPS in the city to promote quality education,” he said.
