Hazaribagh: Twenty-two-year-old Vikas Kumar, a member of Maoist?s local revolutionary guerrilla squad, was arrested in Churchu forest on Friday. During police interrogation, Vikas has confessed to his involvement in a number of Naxalite activities, including the attack on the Churchu police station. Vikas, while talking to The Telegraph, said he joined the outfit on the advice of his girlfriend Vaijanti Kumari who is also a member. Superintendent of police Praveen Kumar Singh said they got a tip off regarding Vikas from informants in the Churchu jungle. Vikas was nabbed when he was coming to town with a friend. When he saw the police he tried to flee but was caught. Dhanbad: Varun Burnwal of Dhanbad brought laurels for the country by winning a silver medal in the lightweight category of My Thai event in the first Asian Indoor Games. The event was organised by the Olympic Council of Asia from November 12-19. Before leaving for Thailand, Burnwal had participated in a month-long camp organised in Bangalore. Dhanbad: Twenty-five-year-old Radha Devi, a resident of Katras More in Jharia, was brought to Patliputra Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition on Friday. According to the doctors Radha has sustained over 80 per cent burn injuries and chances of her survival is bleak. er husband Dilip Kumar Vishwakarma said Radha sustained burn injuries around 9 am due to a stove blast. Vishwakarma was said to be working in the nearby sweet and snacks shop, which he owns, at the time of the incident. Giridih: The travellers of the newly constructed Chitardih Road seem to be the latest target of road robbers with two road robberies reported within 12 hours. In the first case, four armed men looted property and cash worth Rs 5,000 including Rs 1,600 in cash, one wrist watch and a gold chain from two travelling in a motorbike. The second incident took place on Friday, in broad daylight, when a family was robbed of three cell phones and cash. Giridih: About 214 patients were treated free of cost in an eye check-up camp organised by the Rotary Club at its community centre in Panaydih. Villagers from Jeetpur, Panaydih, Madanpur came to get their eyes tested. Chairman of Rotary eye division, Geeta Agrawal, said cataract operations will be done at the Giridih Rotary Eye Hospital from November 19 to 26.
