Ranchi, Feb. 7: The state government today decided to shift the proposed engineering college in West Singhbhum from Khuntpani to Jhinkpani.
It has resolved to allot 35 acres in the Kalande mauja of Jhinkpani block. Earlier, on April 11 last year, the Arjun Munda cabinet had resolved to set up the proposed engineering college in the Bank mauja of Khuntpani block.
Sources said Madhu Koda amended his predecessor’s decision in the view of new “political challenges” ahead. He will soon be laying the foundation stone of the college.
Lucknow-based Regional Urban and Environmental Study Centre has been appointed the consultant for solid waste management capacity evaluation of the municipal corporations in the state. In Ranchi, it will also be preparing the report card system.
To make the functioning of the Jharkhand Educational Tribunal more effective, the creation of nine posts of officials has been approved by the cabinet. The Jharkhand Non-government (management and control) Regulation, 2002, too has been amended. Earlier, the government was empowered to appoint senior teachers and principals in these schools, subject to approval by the JPSC. Now the JPSC’s approval will be needed only for the appointment of principals.
The cabinet has also waived written tests for the appointment of ayurvedic, homeopathic and unani doctors on contract basis. Now they will be recruited through walk-in interviews and a new grading system will be evolved for them.
The cabinet also resolved to give 32.2 acres to the industry department for setting up a tussar silk growth centre in Medininagar block in Palamau district.
Funds utilisation
Koda today asked top officials of various departments to ensure that at least 80 per cent of the budgetary provision under the plan head was utilised by the end of this fiscal.
At a review meeting, it was observed that only 32 per cent of the budgetary allocations were spent till January 31.
