Committee check |
Jamshedpur, Jan. 5: Kolhan University today asked all its colleges to set up monitoring committees at the earliest so that a tab can be kept on irregularities .
Apart from college-wise panels, a monitoring committee will also be formed at the university level to track its day-to-day functioning.
“For a university to run smoothly, it is very necessary for the head of the institutions to be strict and to maintain a record of day-to-day affairs,” Kolhan University vice chancellor Salil Roy said.
“The monitoring committee that will be necessary for each and every college, will track everything, ranging from the attendance percentage of teachers and regular classes to administrative issues,” Roy added.
The committees, which would comprise the principal and senior teachers of all the constituent college, would also fax him reports on a daily basis, the vice chancellor said, adding that if the committees reported any irregularities, the varsity would take immediate action.
“Ideally, principals of all the colleges should regularly visit the campuses to ensure proper functioning. However, senior teachers in the committees could also alert them if they find out any irregularities,” added Roy.
Meanwhile, the monitoring committee at the university level will include members of the syndicate and senior principals.
It will keep track of overall functions of the varsity, including its finances.
Any irregularities discovered by the committee will be brought to the notice of the governor, who is the chancellor of the state’s universities.
Incidentally, in its last syndicate meeting held in December last year, Kolhan University had also appointed a five-member high level enquiry committee to probe into all the irregularities committed in the varsity in the past one-and-a-half years since its formation.
