Jamshedpur, Sept. 27: Everyone seems to want a slice of forest fun.
Those looking forward to spend Durga Puja in serene Dalma but are yet to book accommodations are in for disappointment. The Pinderbera guest house atop the picturesque hills, about 35km from Jamshedpur, is full till October 15. Tourists will start pouring in from tomorrow.
“Most of the visitors are from Calcutta and other places of Bengal, including Kharagpur. Few are from Jamshedpur. We have stopped entertaining further requests for booking,” Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary range officer Mangal Kachhap told The Telegraph.
Promising a great stay to the guests, the range officer said that acute water crisis at the Pinderbera facility was now a thing of the past.
“Visitors can enjoy their stay to the fullest. Our trackers (village youths employed as daily wagers) will be available for taking tourists to scenic spots across the sanctuary. The Shiva Temple, which is 4km away from the guest house, is another major attraction,” he added.
The double-storeyed guest house has two rooms — one on the ground floor and the other at the top. The tariff is Rs 300 per day.
Though tourists can visit scenic spots, including water holes at Majhla Bandh, Chhota Bandh and Bijli Ghati, only a lucky few will be able to see elephants.
“Barring a few, most of the 156-odd elephants have left for the jungles of West Midnapore and Bankura. Only 23 elephants are currently in the sanctuary. But they are scattered across the 192sqkm reserve,” a forester said.
