8 FJCCI members quit

Ranchi: Eight members of the 21-member executive committee of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) submitted their resignations from the committee on Saturday alleging they were being kept out of all activities of the industry outfit.

Anil Agarwal, Kashi Prasad Kanoi, Kishore Mantri, Pradeep Kumar Jain, Puja Dhadha, Rahul Saboo, R.D. Singh and Suresh Chandra Agarwal had three months left in the committee.

Murder cuffs

Jamshedpur: Ratnesh Kumar, a junior accountant in building construction department of Seraikela-Kharsawan, was arrested on Saturday for murdering Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Hajipur on Friday late night. Police said Ratnesh stabbed Rakesh for outraging the modesty of his wife.

New VC

Ranchi: BIT-Mesra professor Gopal Pathak has been named vice chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology. While his tenure is for three years, the appointment is subject to vigilance clearance.

Inspection

Ranchi: Chief secretary Rajbala Verma inspected vacant land in Namkum and Patratu on Saturday, for its transfer to Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority.

Squatters

Jamshedpur: The court of circle officer Maheshwar Mahto on Saturday issued notices for removal of 47 encroachments on government land in Chotta Govindpur area. The order has to be executed by the local police within 15 days.

Self-help groups

Jamshedpur: Sanjay Kumar, deputy collector in CM camp office, interacted with tribal craftsmen in Janumdih village of Potka block, nearly 46km from here,on Saturday. Kumar inspected the grass-woven mats and other materials made by the villagers with the help of self-help groups.
