Jamshedpur, March 26: Payal Cinema will be the first in the city to install Dolby sound system in a makeover aimed at ?enhancing the movie experience?.

Vishal Sawa, director of Payal Cinema, which has 1,325 seats, has ambitious plans. ?We are changing the screen, the seats and the d?cor of the cinema,? he said. The theatre will remain closed for the next two weeks as its management plans a series of changes.

Authorities would not disclose the costs involved in the renovation. The key, said Sawa, is creating the right ambience, especially as expectations of the cinema-going public have increased.

Payal Cinema?s plans also include special dress circle facilities for the upmarket audience.

Sawa says that Dolby Sound will make movie watching a different experience. He, however, added that there were a lot of details to be looked into before they went ahead. Authorities are taking one step at a time.

?The infrastructure is old and renovation needs to be done quickly. We have decided to change our d?cor for now,? said Sawa.

Other plans for Payal cinema include setting up a food court.

?Gone are the days when families came to the cinema just to watch movies. Today, cinemas mean more than that,? said Sawa.

The director says people want ?complete entertainment? when they go out. ?This means that we have to focus on giving them the right atmosphere when they come in,? he added.

Authorities at Payal Cinema said they had other upmarket facilities planned, but declined to reveal further details. And as far as other upmarket facilities are concerned, the authorities decided to remain tight-lipped on the issue.

The authorities also have plans to introduce separate entry and exit points for different ticket prices. But there will be some relief for those, who cannot miss a single release, as, for the time being, the ticket rates will remain unchanged.
