The head honcho of the steel major wants to make sure that the nitty-gritties of the industry are imparted to the youngsters, even at the school level.
Muthuraman has already set the ball rolling during his tenure as the vice-president (ferrous division) of the institute where six months ago a book, Ferrum Hunters, was published jointly by the IIM and Tata Steel.
Muthuraman says the book talks about steel and young children and is meant for the children between the age group of 13-14 years.
Buoyed by the roaring success of the book, Muthuraman said plans are on the anvil to publish the book in Hindi, Oriya, Bengali and Marathi as the steel sector plays a dominant role in these states.
Muthuraman is keen to see more and more college students get interested in the steel sector for which the institute is publishing another book, Steel in the Service of India, jointly authored by Professor S. Ranganathan and Amit Chatterjee.
“This book is an attempt to make youngsters involved in the ferrous and non-ferrous sections so that more and more youngsters throw their ring in the manufacturing industry,” said Muthuraman.
He felt that youngsters should get involved in research work to give the steel industry a perfect shape.
