Dhanbad, May 31: There is good news for students of government schools as the state has decided to set up model schools in each of the 212 blocks of Jharkhand.

In Dhanbad, the new schools, which will be equipped with the state of the art infrastructure, will debut in rural blocks like Tundi, Govindpur, Topchanchi, Nirsa and Baliapur.

In the first phase, a model school will be inaugurated in Tundi this Independence Day. Dhanbad district education officer Rajkumar Singh said 40 students would be selected for admission in Class VI through an entrance examination, which will be conducted between June 15 and July 15.

“Any student who has completed his Class V this year from any school in Tundi can apply for the test, which will be conducted as soon as the state headquarters provides the format of admission forms and question papers.” said Singh. He added that the selected students would be entitled to free education.

A class will be added every year to the school till it reaches Plus Two.

“Five special teachers will be appointed for the school for which an advertisement will be issued by the state public relations department in a day or two,” said Singh.

He added that the infrastructure of the school would be on par with any of the reputed public schools of the district.

“The move is aimed at attracting students towards government schools by upgrading the standard of education,” said the DEO.

Model schools in Topchanchi, Govindpur, Baliapur and Nirsa will start from the 2012-13 academic session.
