Jamshedpur, June 14: After the success of That Thing Called Love and 22 Yards, Loyola School alumnus Tuhin A. Sinha is all set to release his third book — Of Love and Politics — later this month.

The book would be released by actor Rituparna Sengupta and author Rimi Chatterjee on June 25 at the Oxford bookstore in Calcutta. The Delhi launch of the book is scheduled for July 2. Following the Calcutta launch, Sinha will address his juniors at his alma mater on June 29.

The 33-year-old, a Loyola School alumnus of the 1995 batch, released his earlier two books in 2006 and 2008 respectively. That Thing Called Love was translated into Bengali, Hindi and Marathi and sold 50,000 copies.

“After That Thing Called Love and 22 Yards, I knew I had to attempt something grander. Politics, religion and ideology are issues that seem impersonal and relatively inconsequential in our daily existence. And yet sometimes, the influence cast by them is such they make or break personal bonds,” said Sinha.

Unlike the other two books that revolved around relationships and the darker side of the sports world respectively, the upcoming book is based on the idea that personal bonds and relationships are not unaffected by ideological moorings. The book looks to fix responsibility for some of the country’s biggest political failures post-Independence.

The story revolves around three characters — Aditya Samar Singh, Brajesh Ranjan and Chaitali Sen — who hail from three different political parties.

“The book can create some ripples as there are references to some national political parties. However, I am prepared to face it,” said the Loyola lad.

A commerce graduate from Hindu College, Delhi, and a diploma holder from National Institute of Advertising, Sinha quit scriptwriting to pursue his love for writing novels. He is also a creative consultant with a Mumbai-based production house.
