Blockbuster film, best-seller merchandise.

And if the film happens to be Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and the item in question the mace (gada) pendant he sports as a Hanuman bhakt, it is obvious that it's the must-have accessory for men.

And, like the boyfriend blazer, trendy girls are also sporting the pendant, also called the gada locket.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan shows a do-gooder, emotional, even vulnerable Salman, different from the one-liner spouting, swaggering, ripping-shirt-off superstar. Sporting the pendant, he embarks on a mission to safely escort a speech-impaired girl to her Pakistan home.

From gold to silver to silver-lookalikes, the mace pendant is stealing hearts online and in retail stores such as Archies Gallery.

Scores of people are shopping online for mace pendants from Amazon, eBay, Snapdeal, Silvostyle, KuberBox and more.

While KuberBox is selling gold mace pendants studded with diamonds at nearly Rs 70,000, others are easier on the pocket. Silvostyle pendants, also found in online store www.amazon.com, start from Rs 795 and come in a box with a signature of Salman Khan and the words "Bajranji Bhaijaan pendant is really close to my heart. Thanks for making it yours."

At Archies Gallery in GEL Church Complex, Ranchi, a mace pendant costs between Rs 149 and Rs 499. Kundan Kashyap, owner of Archies Gallery, said they got the pendants a couple of days ago from Mumbai.

"We realised youngsters wanted to sport the mace pendant at an affordable price. After watching the movie, a lot of them visited our store to purchase it. We had to refuse them then. But, we immediately called up our office in Mumbai and asked for a consignment," Kashyap said.

Sameer Sharma, a young city businessman, said he ordered a silver mace pendant from Amazon. "I watched the film and immediately decided to place an order online for the pendant," he said. "It's a solid trend."

Akansha Sinha, a second-year arts student of St Xavier's College, said the pendant "spelt cool". "For girls and boys, pendants are an important part of dressing up. And, if it's worn by Salman Khan, it is rocking."

Keeping high-end online shoppers in mind, traditional jewellers in the capital such as Jevar and Kuldip Sons and Jewellers are also willing to design mace pendants.

The film smashed the box office when it released on July 17, a day before Id, and is going strong in India and overseas. "102.60 crore Bajrangi Bhaijaan first weekend. Outstanding!!" tweeted trade analyst Komal Nahta. Another reputed trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, tweeted: "#BajrangiBhaijaan is Salman Khan's 8th film to cross 100 cr mark in India. HIGHEST 100 cr score by any actor. Note: Hindi films."

In Jharkhand, the film is doing well in plexes and standalone theatres across all centres, except in Jamshedpur, where clashes between two communities led to theatres closing. Ajit Chowdhary, Eylex manager in Ranchi said: "It's the sixth day and we have over 80 per cent occupancy and great advance booking for the weekend. We hiked ticket prices by Rs 20 each, so it's Rs 120 and Rs 160 each for morning and evening shows."
