Jamshedpur, Oct. 6: L&T-Ramboll Consulting Engineers Limited has bagged the contract to prepare the blueprint for state?s first special economic zone (SEZ) in the Adityapur industrial area.

Sources in the state industries department said IL&FS approved the bid of L&T-Ramboll.

IL&FS is the state government?s appointed consultant for developing proper infrastructure.

Sources said: ?IL&FS had floated tenders inviting bids from various parties interested in preparing blueprint for the state?s SEZ. Nine parties had staked claim for the work. After scrutinising technical and financial aspects of these nine bidders, L&T Ramboll?s bid was finalised for the job.?

The Chennai-based firm is a joint venture of Larsen & Turbo and Ramboll of Denmark.

The company has to its credit the blueprints of some of the reputed projects such as international leather complex at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh and a special economic zone in Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

It has also prepared a project report for special economic zone at Manesar in Haryana.

?The company is expected to begin work by middle of this month after a formal meeting with IL&FS and state government officials. It has to submit its blueprint by end of November,? sources informed.

A few months back the Centre had given permission to the state government to set up a SEZ in Jharkhand and Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) had already acquired around 90 acres in the industrial area for the project.

Sources added that the company authorities would be making a survey of the proposed area first.

?It shall be the responsibility of L&T-Ramboll to prepare the infrastructure nitty-gritty. They would be making plans for wider roads for transportation and despatch of materials, electricity supply, sewage system, water supply and allotment of space for the units and other facilities that are needed for that zone.

?L&T-Ramboll would also give an estimate of the quantum of funds required to develop the infrastructure within Adityapur SEZ ,? sources added.

Based on the blueprint prepared by L&T-Ramboll, the government will appoint a developer, who will be entrusted with the creation of proper infrastructure facilities in the SEZ.

Sources said: ?The developer has to abide by the suggestions and instructions prepared by L&T-Ramboll.?

Insiders in the industries department informed that IL&FS has already invited bids from developers. So far, six developers have responded to the call for tender.
