Jamshedpur, Oct. 2: If all goes well for Munda plans, products of Kuchai silk, manufactured in the Kuchai area under his constituency, Kharsawan, will soon shoot onto the international map.

The chief minister today said the state government will soon participate in a roadshow in Malaysia, one of the major trade centres in the Asian subcontinent, where Kuchai silk will be marketed.

?The state government has held talks with Swadeshi, a marketing agency of Centre for Bharaiya Marketing Development (CBMD), which has an experience in marketing indigenous products,? said Munda, who today launched Kuchai silk at the Bistupur unit of Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries? Board.

The chief minister reiterated that Kuchai silk is one of the best in quality and the colour of the silk and its brightness can attract a number of people.

The state government is also planning to give the production a shot in the arm by providing technical knowhow to those associated with the production. ?We are trying to add value to the raw product by arranging some training modules and arm the designers with adequate training to draw up the latest market designs,? Munda said.

Officials of Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries? Board pointed out that Malaysia is famous for its silk products and the citizens might well catch a fancy for Kuchai silk, the quality of which is nationally acknowledged.

They also informed that villagers, mostly tribal people of the area, are involved in weaving Katia, the product of Kuchai silk from which dress materials are made.
