Jamshedpur, April 28: Kolhan University (KU), in its syndicate meeting at its Chaibasa headquarters today, directed its colleges offering technical or specialised courses to follow correct protocol and seek permission from statutory bodies concerned, followed by the state HRD ministry.
For instance, Karim City College for its courses such as masters in computer application, mass communication and BEd, Loyola College of Education for BEd, BA College of Engineering and RVS College of Engineering and Technology for BTech and Mrs KMPM Vocational College for all its courses, will need approval of statutory bodies and the state.
These colleges, to name a few, were erroneously granted direct affiliation for courses by the university last year. “All such colleges need to apply for the necessary approvals from statutory bodies and state HRD ministry,” said Kolhan University vice chancellor Salil Kumar Roy.
This apart, KU directed principals and professors-in-charge of affiliated colleges to submit reports highlighting their achievements in the past three years. The decision was taken to evaluate the performance of a college. To do so, the college heads will have to list proposals sent to University Grants Commission in New Delhi and utilisation of funds.
“Any initiative needs to be mentioned in the report,” said S.S. Akhtar, deputy registrar-cum-public relations officer (PRO) of Kolhan University.
A three-member committee comprising advocate and syndicate member Rajesh Shukla, Kolhan University controller of examinations G.P. Singh and Akhtar, was also formed to negotiate with Bar Council of India (BCI) on reviving Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College.
