Jamshedpur, April 2: The mystery of the Mishra family killing on February 11 has been solved with police nailing the relatives for the murder.
According to officer-in-charge of Sidhgora police station Sakaldev Ram, who is also the investigating officer of the case, Narottam Mishra and his family were murdered by his nephew Nanhe Mishra, brother-in-law Raman Jha, family friends Shivaji Giri and Shyam Narayan Gorai alias Shyamu.
The relatives killed the Mishras with an eye on their property and to avoid repaying the loan. As the victim had not made a will, Nanhe, being the nephew, would have been the sole inheritor of Narottam?s property. The Mishra family had their last dinner at Giri?s house on the fateful night to celebrate his son?s appointment in the Jharkhand Police.
A money-lender, Narottam Mishra along with his wife Sapna, son Raja and daughter Rani were found dead in their house in Baridih on February 11. The bodies were recovered on February 17, after the neighbours complained of a foul smell from the house.
Ram said, ?In their statement, the accused have confessed that all of them, including the nephew, had taken a loan of more than Rs 2 lakh from Narottam. When they realised that the re-payment of the loan amount was impossible, they conspired to kill the family.?
The police have recovered the dagger used in the killing from the banks of Kharkai river at Baridih.
