Jamshedpur, Aug. 1: Their voice rings in intense curiosity as they watch the promos of Kaun Banega Crorepati-2 (KBC) on television. For D.V. Kiran, an 11th grader at Jamshedpur Public School and Mayank Mediritta, a first-year student of Personal Management and Industrial Relations at the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), it is a clear case of been there, done that.
Kiran had won Rs 6.4 lakhs at the KBC junior aired on the eve of Children?s Day in 2001. Mayank, originally from Delhi, had won a whopping Rs 50 lakhs along with his father Dr. Colonel Harish Mediritta at the ?Family Jodi? round in July the same year.
But for them the wait to watch their altar of success being beamed once again is unbearable. ?I can?t wait for it to start. With such an hectic schedule at XLRI, I hope I can catch up with the episodes,? said Mayank, who holds the record of being the youngest participant till date. So, any fond memories?
?Those few moments with Amitabh Bachchan would always be a cherished dream,? Kiran baritoned, much matured to his age. He had won the prize at the age of just 11. And for Mayank, the very mention of the Big B lights up his face. ?Our episode was shot twice in a span of 20 days, but when he (the Big B) saw me the second day, he uttered ?Mayank, long time?; and that?s perhaps been one of the best moments of my life,? he quips.
Ever since the boys appeared on television, life has been different. ?The hype lasted a year or two. Now people hardly remember what happened,? said Kiran.
?I could get in touch with some very old friends all over again,? said Mayank.
With the show once again being the talk of the nation, don?t they want to be second time lucky?
?It?s a rule that one who has been on the hot seat once cannot try again,? quipped Kiran. But given a chance Mayank would love to be back on the hot seat. The obvious curiosity is what they did with the huge amount? ?Dad wanted to use it for my studies abroad,? said Mayank.
?We are yet to receive the money as Kiran was a minor then and the organisers have deposited the money in the bank. We will get it only when he turns 18 and plan to use it for his further studies,? quipped D. Vijaya, Kiran?s mother.
