Jamshedpur, Aug. 2: Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco) today assured industrialists that it would provide uninterrupted power to the Adityapur industrial zone.
Jusco, a Tata Steel subsidiary, was created recently to provide the city with quality services in power, water, waste water management, construction and infrastructure development.
Chief of Jusco’s power business division A.N. Singh held a one-hour meeting with industrialists from various associations at Vikas Bhavan this afternoon and gave a presentation on Jusco’s plans to provide power in Adityapur. “Singh has assured us that Jusco will ensure that Adityapur area — both domestic and industrial — receives uninterrupted and quality power supply if given permission by the State Electricity Regulatory Commi-ssion (SERC),” president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, A.K. Srivastava said.
Jusco has applied to SERC for permission to supply power to Mango and Adityapur. According to the commission’s rules, there can be more than one party providing power to consumers in the state. At present, Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) holds monopoly in the two thickly-populated areas.
According to industrialists, Jusco officials said the company would set up its own sub-stations. During the meeting, Singh said Jusco would tie up with Tata Power.
