JPL teams get owners at auction

Ranchi, Feb. 7: The inaugural edition of Jharkhand Premier League (JPL) T20 cricket held an auction of its five teams here today at Jharkhand State Cricket Association’s (JSCA) international cricket stadium.

Ranchi Rangers went to VEXCEL Computers Private Limited, Ranchi, with Vinod Behl as the owner, said Nishant Dayal, director of Elite Sports Management, co-hosts of the first edition of JPL T20 cricket tourney with JSCA.

Jamshedpur Jaanbaaz went to New Delhi-based Frontline Group, whose chairman Sanjay Sinha had hosted the floodlit cricket tournament in 2009 at Patna, in which top Indian cricketers such as Virendra Sehwag had participated.

The Jamshedpur-based Bimaldeep Group and its managing director Ajay Morarka became owners of Singhbhum Shers. Bokaro Bulls went to Ranchi-based MT Constructions, whose managing director is Madhukar Singh.

Dhanbad Diamonds was won by yet another Ranchi-based Ayush Shreyash Properties Private limited, with Ranjan Kumar as its managing director. Ranchi-based business groups now own three of the five teams.

Players will be auctioned on February 13, Dayal added.
