Ranchi: Picturesque locations across the state will once again be reflected on the silver screen, thanks to internationally-acclaimed film-maker Goutam Ghose.
Ghose, who has won the National Award and has also featured in several Bengali movies, is currently shooting a Hindi feature film at Patratu valley near Ranchi.
Titled One Day In The Rains, the film is being produced by Amit Agarwal under the banner of Adarsh Telemedia.
"Even though the film is being made in Hindi it will have an international appeal. The film will have glimpses of rich cultural traditions of the region like the Domkach folk dance. The dialogues even have some local dialects," Ghose, who is directing a Hindi film after a gap of 12 years, the last being Yatra (2006) starring Nana Patekar, Rekha and Deepti Naval, said during a news meet at Ranchi Press Club on Friday.
Set in Chotanagpur, the film is about how the lives of an old couple is saved by a group of villagers.
"At a time when we hear stories of intolerance and violence almost everyday, this film will portray the compassionate side of people," said Ghose, adding the entire film would be shot in Jharkhand, including Ranchi and Netarhat.
"The screenplay is based on a Bengali short story written by Prafulla Roy," said Ghose.
The film stars well-known actors like Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome and Neeraj Kabi.
While National School of Drama alumni Adil Hussain has acted in several films like English Vinglish, Life of Pi and Parched, Tillotama Shome won the best supporting actress for her role in A Death in the Gunj that was shot in McCluskiegung.
Theatre actor Neeraj Kabi gained recognition for his critically-acclaimed roles in Hichki and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.
"I felt honoured when Ghose offered me the lead role in such a lovely movie. I was really impressed by the scenic locales of Jharkhand," said Hussain.
Tillotama said she loved the script as the story was truly endearing. "I am overwhelmed by the soul of the film. I had even loved shooting at McCluskiegung," she added.
