Jamshedpur: District general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Suraj Kumar Singh, 32 succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for 36 hours at the Tata Main Hospital on Thursday morning.

Singh had been attacked by a group of youths at Bagbera, near Tatanagar railway station on Tuesday night, allegedly over some vehicle loan related dispute. He had been attacked on his face and other parts of the body by a sharp weapon.

The seriously injured leader was undergoing treatment at the critical care unit of Tata Main Hospital .

On Wednesday one Sonu Singh, and two others accused in the case surrendered before the police and had admitted the crime.

Following which Sonu was jailed, while the other two were interrogated till late in the night.

Senior SP of East Singhbhum Tamil M Vannan has ordered for a thorough probe. City SP Subhas Chandra Jat went to TMH soon after getting the news of the death.

The news of Singh’s death spread like a wildfire and had local BJP leaders pouring in at the hospital.

A section of agitated partymen and family members also staged a blockade on the Station- Bagbera Road for several hours.

Former BJP state spokesperson Amarpreet Singh Kale, said, “BJYM has lost a young and dynamic leader. The culprits should be booked.”

Selection trial for archery training at day training centre to begin next week

Dhanbad: At a time when the news of several archers facing difficulty in training due to lack of equipment, state’s Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department has initiated the process to select archers for day boarding centers across the centre. A few will also be sent to the Center of Excellence for Archery, Ranchi.

Selection dates for all the centers have been announced for cadets belonging to the age group of 10 to 12 years 16 to 22 years.

The selection trial will begin from Archery Training Center of Dumka situated in Kaman Dudhni on December 15 and will be followed at Dhanbad’s Digwadih, Jamadoba ground on December 17.

The selection trials for the both the age group cadets will take place at the shooting range of Khel Gaon, Hotwar Ranchi on December 19 which would be followed by selection trial scheduled at Day Boarding Centre of Ranchi on December 21.

Ramnivas Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Sahinganj, said, “This is a golden opportunity for the archers and students who are interested in pursuing archery. Non-government schools can participate in the trails at the mentioned venues.”

“They need to have their birth certificate and aadhar card when they reach the venue, where they will be tested, following which they will be sent off to specific centers for training,” said Yadav.

Md Shamshad, a Dhanbad-based archery coach, said “This will be beneficial for archers facing difficulty in training due to lack of equipment at home.”
