Six-month-old goes missing
Ranchi: A six-month-old child went missing from Chutia police station area on Monday. Police sources believe that the child may have been kidnapped.
The child?s father, Ganesh Thakur, lives behind a branch of the HDFC bank in the capital. He is the manager of First Life courier services.
The police said the boy was last seen playing on the small portico just outside his house around 11 am. That was when he was seen last by his family. After he went missing, his family desperately searched for the him for a whole day.
When their attempts failed, they ultimately lodged an FIR at the local police station.
andhir Kumar, the officer in-charge of the Chutia police station, said: ?It seems like a case of kidnapping. We suspect that someone close to the family, such as a relative or friend may be involved in the case. But right now, we are unable to say anything concrete. A case has been lodged and we are looking into the matter.?
The incident is similar to another missing person case that took place at Jaggannathpur police station area recently, where a girl went missing from her home. Her body was recovered the next day by her family.
Teacher kills self
Jamshedpur : A teacher of a private school took her life on Monday morning. The victim, Sangeeta Kumari (25), a resident of Adityapur was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom.
Though neighbours alleged that the girl had taken her life over a alleged relationship, relations ruled out the possibility of Sangeeta taking her life over matters of the heart, saying that she was a ?practical? girl who condemned those who took such ?foolish? steps. Officer-in-charge of the local police station, R. Dayal, said a case of unnatural death has been registered. The body has been sent for post-mortem to the of MGM Medical College.
Rebel nabbed
Hazaribagh: Police have arrested three extremists in connection to the murder of informer Dillu Mahto in Churchu. Sources said the arrested rebels have admitted killing Mahto during a jan adalat.
Carnival time
Ranchi: The Fairdeal Carnival 2006 will be inaugurated at Aqua World on December 28. The programmes will begin from 11 am. A news release issued on Monday stated that the winter carnival will be inaugurated by director general of police R.R. Prasad. A number of events have been planned for the two-day-long event.
Transfer plea
Jamshedpur: Sakchi jail authorities on Monday submitted a petition to the chief judicial magistrate requesting the court to allow the transfer of undertrial prisoner Akhilesh Singh to the central jail. But the plea will be processed only after the court reopens on January 2, when the court of the first additional district judge, R.P. Ravi, will pronounce the sentence for the murder of jailer Uma Shanker Pandey?s in which Akhilesh has already been convicted.
Soccer win
Jamshedpur: Tata Football Academy (TFA) beat Titanium Club by 2-1 in an exciting semi-final match of the Lt Governor?s Invitational DDA Football Tournament held at Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. Both goals from TFA were scored by P.C. Lalawmpuia in the second-half of the game. In the finals, scheduled on December 28, TFA will clash against Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The tournament was flagged off on December 19.
Dumper stolen
Jamshedpur: A local transporter on Monday lodged a complaint in the Olidih police alleging that his dumper, used for construction work, was stolen.
