CCL miner dies in accident

B>Hazaribagh: A 46-year-old employee of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Sukhlal Bedia died in a mine mishap on Friday in Argadda Colliery of Ramgarh, about 50 kms from the district headquarters. The incident took place around 2 pm triggering anger among other workers, who demanded compensation and a job for the victim's family. Sukhlal was a loader in the mine. Sources said at K-Seam of sector-2 under ground mines, 76-workers were engaged in coal mining. Near pillar-3, 15 of them were busy in loading the coal, when a part of the roof collapsed and fell on Sukhlal. He died on the spot.

B>CHAIBASA:The Rajnagar branch of the Canara Bank organised a health camp, loan mela and sports event at Shaymsunder villager in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharaswan district on Thursday. A five-member team of doctors from Jamshedpur, treated villagers and distributed medicines. Around 200 local people from various panchayats under Rajnagar area turned up for the camp.

B>CHAIBASA: A five-day health camp organised by the Singhbhum Legal and Development Services in association with the West Singhbhum Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa, concluded on Friday. Over 500 tribal patients from over six panchayats under Sadar Chaibasa, were treated in the camp. The president of the social organisation, Prakash Hessa, said the health camp was aimed at providing free treatment to tribals. A team from Sadar Hospital checked the patients.

Road blocked

B>HAZARIBAGH: Villagers on Friday blocked the Hazaribagh-Chatra Road near Banadaag for few hours to mount pressure on officials to lodge an FIR against those involved in blackmarketing of foodgrains allotted under different government schemes. Villagers had seized seven bags of rice on Thursday night from different locations. But on Friday morning, villagers alleged that the police were trying to cover up the matter. Angry villagers, then, blocked the road resulting in a complete halt of traffic.

Highway loot

B>Bokaro: More than six criminals, all in their early twenties, looted cash and valuables worth Rs 95,000 from passengers of a bus, a pick-up van and two motorcyclists in a road. The incident took place late evening on Thursday at about eleven on the Gomia- Lalpania National Highway. Police sources said about eight persons blocked the main highway by placing logs and forced the bus, a pick-van and the two motorcycles to stop.
