Rs 34 lakh-scheme for BPL patients

Ranchi: Jharkhand State Medical Relief Management Committee has sanctioned Rs 34 lakh for the treatment of people who live below the poverty line.

As many as 33 people will be treated under this health scheme. The decision to sanction the money was taken by health minister Dinesh Kumar Sarangi at a meeting of the committee. Private secretary of the committee Hemant Kumar Das said the panel will continue to accept applications from people in the BPL bracket who want to avail of the scheme.

RJD protest against civic woes

Ranchi: The youth wing of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will stage a demonstration in front of the commissioner’s office on June 7 to protest against the poor supply of water and electricity in the capital.

The decision was taken at a meeting on May 29. The youth wing also decided to pressurise the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) to lower the power tariff, which was increased recently.

Mahto felicitated

Jamshedpur: The Congress, under the presidentship of Ramashray Prasad on Sunday, felicitated Sunil Mahto on his being elected Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur.

The felicitation ceremony of the JMM leader took place at Tilak Pustakalaya in Bistupur on Sunday. Party workers of both the Congress and JMM were present in large numbers to cheer the new MP from Jamshedpur.

Maithili plea

Ranchi: The Antarrashtriya Maithili Parishad has expressed shock over the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC)’s decision not to include Maithili as one of the subjects in the JPSC examinations. The parishad said human resource minster P.N. Singh had taken the initiative to include the language as a subject, but the government did not pay heed to his requests.

Summer camp

Ranchi: The Summer Camp of Pazeb was a success if the smiles on the faces of children were anything to go by. Children from across the city attended the five-day camp organised at the Kanke branch of the event management institute. Classes on dancing, acting and painting were the main attractions at the camp. Awards were given away to the best performers.

Workshop

Ranchi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad, Ranchi, will organise a personality development camp. Students from 11 districts will take part in the camp. The camp aims at helping tribal students excel in different fields.

Alumni meet

Jamshedpur: The annual get together of the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, will be held on June 19 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex from 6 pm to 10 pm, said Ashok Uppal, president of BITOSA on May 28.

Compensation

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Mines Area Co-ordination Committee (JMACC) has blamed Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and the government for the mishap that took place in the mines at Baniyadih near Giridih on Friday.

The committee has demanded a rehabilitation package and jobs for the injured miners and the families of the workers who died in the accident.

The committee has also demanded that all illegal mines should be registered.

Renovation plan

Jamshedpur: The new committee of Jamshedpur Arya Samaj Trust, under the chairmanship of R.N. Sharma, has decided to renovate its school at Tapti Road, Sakchi. Sharma said the trustees plan to upgrade the facilities before the school reopens after the summer vacation.

No salaries

Ranchi: About 5000 workers of the health department have not received their salaries for the past three months.

According to sources, the salaries were sanctioned by health secretary P.P. Sharma, but the workers are yet receive their pay due to mismanagement on the part of some department officials.

Several doctors have also not received their salaries. They met the health secretary in this regard.
